The Alan Bush Memorial Centenary Concert took place on 8th November 2000 at the Royal Academy of Music, London. Bush was both a student of the R.A.M. (from 1918 - 1922) and also a distinguished Professor of Composition for 53 years (from 1925) interrupted only by his studies in Berlin and his war service.
The programme included a performance of this year's prize winning composition by Tim Smith, winner of this year's Alan Bush Composition Prize for R.A.M. students...."to find Trees and Stars....".
The programme which included a song cycle setting words by the composer's wife, Nancy Bush, piano music and chamber works received excellent performances by the young artists, all of them students at the R.A.M.
