There will be two performances of Alan Bush's, The Winter Journey, Opus 29 (1946) in Germany in December 2011. The first is in the Gartenkirche, Hannover on 10 December, at 7.30pm and the second in the Stadtkirche, Rotenburg/Wumme on 11 December at 5pm. It will be performed by Katharina Sieg (Soprano), Albrecht Pöhl (Baritone), the Hannoverscher Singers and accompanied by the Hannoversche Hofkapelle and Ryoko Morooka,(Organ) and Birthe Meyer (Harp). The conductor is Keno Weber. We believe this is the German première of the work.
Keno Weber, as a post-graduate student, wrote a thesis on the Byron Symphony, Opus 53 (1959-60) several years ago and is a great supporter of Alan Bush's music. The Trust is delighted that he has chosen to include The Winter Journey in his concert.
