See here for a detailed description of these works.
Listen to Allegro from Africa.
Listen to 1st Movement: 'Sherwood Forest' from Symphony No. 2 - 'Nottingham'.
Alan Bush's Voices of the Prophets is also included on a new CD featuring Peter Pears and the pianist Noel Mewton-Wood.
Andrew Clements gave the CD a glowing review in the Review Section of the Guardian, 6 February 2014. Clements writes: "It is the pair of song-cycles by Matyas Seiber and Alan Bush that Mewton-Wood recorded with Peter Pears in 1953 that are especially valuable... Bush's cantata is a real discovery, setting texts from Isaiah, Milton, Blake and Peter Blackman in a style that recalls Tippett... The work has tremendous energy, and Pears and Mewton-Wood revel in its technical challenges".
